A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of two suspected drug traffickers and the interim forfeiture of vehicles and a property allegedly linked to narcotics offences.
Justice Musa Kakaki issued the orders following an ex parte application by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), which detailed recent seizures and arrests.
The suspects, Muazee Ademola Ogunbiyi and Shola Adegoke, were apprehended on September 3, 2025, after NDLEA operatives traced 17.90 kilograms of cocaine concealed in textile materials at the Skyway Handling Company (SAHCO) export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, on August 26.
NDLEA’s counsel, Abu Ibrahim, told the court that the 14-day remand order was necessary to allow investigators conclude inquiries into the drug network. Justice Kakaki granted the request.
The court also approved the temporary forfeiture of two vehicles linked to the case: a black Range Rover SUV (RBC 459 EJ), in which 9.60 kilograms of cannabis sativa was found, and a black Toyota Venza (FST 771 JQ), used by one of the suspects.
In a separate ruling, the judge ordered the interim forfeiture of a house at 14, Okechukwu Madueke Street, Star-Times Estate, Okota, Lagos. The NDLEA alleged that the property was acquired with proceeds of crime connected to the trafficking of 49.70 kilograms of heroin.
According to court filings, the case began with the arrest of a freight agent at Matt Pee Logistics Company, who was caught with heroin concealed in cutting machines. Investigations later linked the operation to one Chidibest Ibewuike, who has been on the run since February 10, 2024.
Justice Kakaki ruled that the agency’s application had merit, but directed that any interested party with legitimate claims to the property should appear in court to challenge the forfeiture.
The matter was adjourned to November 17, 2025, for a progress report.
